Hello, I’m Glenda from Interior Concepts by Shane. Today I want to share with you how I’m going to create an accent wall. Back in 2020 during Covid, I decided to paint my foyer wall. My space in the foyer is limited where I can’t add a console table. Therefore, I wanted to add something just to give this wall a lift. I used painters’ tape to add vertical strips and applied the colors of bronze, silver, and gray. I also added a stencil. After looking at this wall for three years I decided that it didn’t pop. My entire apartment is painted in two shades of gray therefore I decided to get bold and paint this wall in a dark gray. The color is called Cracked Pepper by Behr. It looks almost black. I used painters’ tape to tape around the molding before I began. The paint itself has a primer in it, so I probably only need one coat or just touch up in light areas. There are so many different designs online, but I wanted to create my own. For weeks I drafted on paper different designs and wasn’t quite sure which ones I liked best. My wall is 79” wide and 80” long. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to cover the whole wall or half of it. I went to Home Depot to look at wood I would need and all the other items to complete my task. After having the wood pieces cut, I took the pieces to the back of my building and sprayed them. So, this is what I came up with. I’m actually very pleased with the outcome. When I open my front door, it’s the first thing I see and it’s pleasing to my eyes.
Until next time,
Glenda Shane
